Rentingwell vs LandlordEzy: Which Fits an Ontario Landlord? (2026)
Features and prices of other products are taken from their own websites on the date of writing and can change; check their site before you decide. This is not legal advice.
Rentingwell and LandlordEzy are both Canadian and both aimed at Ontario landlords. They take different approaches. LandlordEzy is a broad platform: screening, credit reporting, rent collection, listings, a forum and a search of LTB orders. Rentingwell is narrower. It keeps your rent ledger and records and gets the N4 right.
This post compares them on the things a small Ontario landlord uses most. Every claim about LandlordEzy comes from its own website, with a link. Where its site doesn't say, we say "Not stated".

Where Rentingwell is stronger
The N4 is available on the free plan. On Rentingwell your first N4 is free with an account, and later ones on the free plan are $19 each. On LandlordEzy the N4 is part of "a paid LandlordEzy membership". (source) Its Free plan doesn't list it. (source) If you have one or two units and need an N4 once in a while, Rentingwell lets you do it without a subscription.
The date is counted for every delivery method. Rentingwell fills in the Board's current N4, the September 2026 version, using the rent owing from your ledger or a calculation you enter. It then counts the 7-day termination date for the way you'll give the notice: in person, in the mailbox, by mail, by courier, by email with consent, or by fax. You get the Board's checklist and a Certificate of Service with it. LandlordEzy's N4 page describes the 7-day period and lists "In person, mail, courier or email". (source)
The paperwork after the N4 is in one place. My documents keeps each N4 with its certificate. One click builds a package zip: the N4, the certificate, a rent schedule PDF and a CSV of payments. Hand it to a paralegal, or use it to file with the Board yourself. Rentingwell then tracks the Board case: the L1 file number, the hearing, the order and the close.
Repayment plans and rent increases are built in. You can set up a payment agreement or a Board-ordered repayment plan and track each instalment against the ledger. Rent increases show the guideline, the date the notice has to be given by, and reminders.
It's focused. Rentingwell does a smaller set of things: ledger, receipts, leases and tenants, move-out (deposit and keys), a property logbook, Finance (income statement, rent roll, CSV export) and public listings at rnt.al. If you want a quiet tool for your own few units, there's less to learn.
It's been around since 2012. Rentingwell is made in Canada.
Where LandlordEzy may suit you better
You want a lower monthly price as you grow. LandlordEzy's Self Management plan is $9.99 a month plus $1 per door, plus HST. Its own examples are $12.99 for 3 doors and $19.99 for 10. (source) Rentingwell is $15 for 3 units and $50 for 10. If cost is your main concern past a couple of units, LandlordEzy costs less.
You need tenant screening. Rentingwell doesn't do credit checks or screening. LandlordEzy offers Equifax credit checks from $29.99 each, plus prescreening, on every plan. (source)
You want tenants to pay online or log in. LandlordEzy matches Interac e-Transfer rent to the ledger and gives tenants a portal to see their rent history and receipts. (source) Rentingwell has no tenant portal and doesn't collect rent. You mark rent paid yourself.
You want credit reporting. LandlordEzy lists monthly rent reporting to Equifax, alongside automated N1 rent increase notices. (source) Rentingwell fills in the N1 too, but doesn't report rent to a credit bureau.
You want blank copies of other LTB forms. LandlordEzy's library lists 64 free forms, including the L1, L2, N5, N12 and N13, for download after you enter your name and email. (source) The Board's own site has the same forms for free at tribunalsontario.ca. In practice, the N4 is the notice small Ontario landlords give most, and the L1 is the application that usually follows it. Notices like the N12 and N13 come up far less often, so for most landlords the longer list matters less than it looks.
The bottom line
If your main need is a clean rent ledger and correct N4s, pick Rentingwell. It's free for one or two units, including your first N4. The 7-day date is counted for each delivery method, and the package for your paralegal is ready when you need it.
If you want screening, online rent collection, a tenant portal and the lowest monthly price as you add doors, LandlordEzy offers more of those and costs less at 10 units.
