How does the logbook work?
The logbook is your record of what happened and when. Use it for anything you might need to remember or prove later:
- Conversations with tenants
- Repairs and maintenance
- Rent paid late, and what the tenant told you
- Notices you gave, and how you gave them
- Incidents between tenants, or between a tenant and you
- The start of a new tenancy
Each entry is dated and tagged to the property, unit or tenant it's about. When you look at a unit or a tenant, you see every entry about them, in order. You can attach scans and photos to an entry, like a copy of a notice or the certificate of service.
If a tenancy ever ends up at the Landlord and Tenant Board, a dated, detailed record is one of the most useful things you can have.
